Rewards System « Thread Started on Aug 12, 2008, 4:39pm »
This is the new 'rewards' system for significant achievement during the course of the season.
In the off season, I will post all players with their new ratings (overall, and individual stats). During the course of the season you may win 'ratings points'. These points can go towards the individual stats (not overall rating) of the players on your team.
For example, if you had 70 points to spend, you might choose to improve LeBrons 3 point rating by 20, Sam Cassels Stamina by 20, Francisco Elsons strength by 10, and spread the rest of the points over your newly drafted rookies. As you can see, it could make a significant difference to individual players, or to your team as a whole.
You may spend your accumulated points in any way you choose on your players... and I will then post any changes to their overall value. Please understand that Overall Values are fickle... one point in one stat can change it for one player while 20 points may not for another. Thats why I've chosen to make it individual stat points.
You cannot spend your points during the course of the season, only in the off-season.
NOTE - however.... at the start of each season your players will be 'real life' rated... so the effects of using your ratings points will only last for the one season. You will then however have points to use the following season...
Ratings are not given for anything based on team results (including Finals MVP), to lessen the effect of the good teams just getting better.
Ratings points will be given as follows: (Categories in red will not be awarded if a better threshold has been reached. For example, a player will not be given points for appearing in the All-Star game if he gets points for being the MVP of that game)
Player of the Week 40+ points (individual) 130+ points (team) 60% Shooting (minimum 75 attempts - team) 55% 3 point shooting (minimum 10 attempts - team) 95% Free Throw shooting (minimum 15 attempts - team)

good idea ben. really like this. although I would think that we should rethink the 'real life rated' part because this way young players cant really progress... Or is it you will update the ratings every season?

Yeah, at the start of the season I update them to new 'real life' ratings. So, if a young player does not progress in real life, he won't be a superstar in the league either. If he does progress, he will progress in the league also.
